For the last 2 weeks in social studies I was working we were learning about the different types of government, pros and cons and how the were all different and had different impacts on different things.

Candle Experiment

 Candle Experiment

In science today we placed a candle in a petri dish with water inside. Then we lit the candle and and placed a cup over the top of the candle to lock up the oxygen. 

Aim - To see what happens to the water level when the candle is covered. 

Hypothesis - I think the candles flame would go out because the candle was air trapped. 

Results - The candle went out and the cup sucked up to the petri dish, so if you lifted the cup the petri dish would be sucked to the bottom.

Conclusion - The water rose because it was heating up. The flame was using all the oxygen and eventually it was all gone and the cup stuck to the petri dish.

Marshmallow Tower

Marshmallow Tower

In Health we are working on our interpersonal skills and today we did the marshmallow tower challenge. We worked in a group of four, ( Anne, Kayla, Jackson and I). We were given 12 marshmallows and 8 skewers to hold it all together.  

1. What IP skill did you use today? Did you use any warm fuzzies?
The IP skill I used today was verbal communication and active listening. 
The warm fuzzies I used today was " well done". 

2. How did it help with the success/lack of of success of the activity? 
In our group four, it was an unsuccessful because we lacked in active listening and verbal communication.

3. If you were to do it again, how would you do it differently? 
If I did was to do it again, I would; try to use my IP skills more and maybe get one person to take charge and lead the group.

4. What level of Hellison's behaviour model were you working at in this activity and provide examples of this.
I was working at level 3 and examples of me showing this was when I was working cooperatively with the team.
